TangVision Privacy Policy
TangVision is a local viewing-distance assistant for reading, computer work, tablets, gaming and other near-screen activities. It is not a medical device and does not diagnose or treat any condition.
TrueDepth and face data
When you start distance detection, TangVision uses Apple's TrueDepth API, ARKit, Vision and the front camera. Depending on the device and available camera mode, the app temporarily processes live camera frames, the TrueDepth depth map, camera calibration information, face position and transform, a face bounding box, and limited facial landmark information (such as the nose position). The app uses this information only to determine whether a face is present, estimate the distance between the face and the screen, display the current distance, and provide a too-close reminder. It is not used to identify or authenticate a person, build a user profile, infer identity or emotion, train models, or for analytics, marketing or advertising.
All camera, depth and face-data processing occurs in real time on the user's device. Raw camera frames, depth maps, face position, face geometry and facial landmarks exist only in memory while each frame is processed and are discarded immediately after that frame. They are not written to files or databases and are not retained after processing. Live distance samples are kept only in memory during an active session.
TangVision does not transmit face data off the device and does not upload it to our servers or cloud storage. We do not share, disclose, sell or transfer face data to any third party, including affiliates, service providers, analytics providers, advertising platforms, data brokers or information resellers.
At the end of a session, TangVision may store only a derived session summary on the device: session start and end times, duration, reminder count and average viewing distance. This summary does not contain photos, video, depth maps, face geometry or facial landmarks and is not used to identify a person.
If you choose to record a custom reminder, the audio recording is stored locally on your device and is used only for the reminder feature.
Information stored locally
The app may store activity plans, session start and end times, session duration, reminder counts, average distance, calibration preferences and custom reminder settings on your device. This information is not sent to our servers and is not linked to an account.
Advertising and TangVision Plus
TangVision version 1 does not include advertising, analytics or tracking. TangVision Plus is a one-time purchase that unlocks additional local features. There is no subscription and no account is required. An optional seven-day Plus preview starts only when you explicitly choose it, requires no payment method and does not renew.
Permissions
Before TrueDepth or face data is processed, the app presents an on-device privacy notice and requests your consent. Camera access is requested only when you start distance detection. Microphone access is requested only when you choose to record a custom voice reminder. You can withdraw consent and stop future camera and face-data processing at any time by stopping detection or revoking Camera access in iOS or iPadOS Settings. You may continue using app features that do not require the camera.
Deletion and retention
Raw camera, depth and face data is not retained, so there is no stored raw face data to delete. Live distance samples are deleted from memory when a session ends. Derived session summaries remain only in the app's local storage until you delete individual sessions or clear local data in Settings, or delete the app. Custom recordings remain locally until you delete them or delete the app. Deleting the app removes its app-container data according to iOS behavior. Eligibility for the optional seven-day preview and your lifetime Plus purchase are managed through Apple’s in-app purchase system and are not deleted when local app data is cleared.
Children and families
TangVision does not require a child account, parent account, profile or personally identifying information. Adults should supervise device use and review permissions and advertising settings where appropriate. Regional child-privacy requirements may apply depending on how the app is marketed and distributed.
